Those of us unable to work (myself included) have Government (Tax) funded income to keep us non workers happy. They have the right idea because without money I'd go rogue and in the end cost even more tax dollars to keep in jail or to pay for detectives to hunt me down (without success I add).
Being unable to work isn't a choice you make, nor is it as good as it sounds. The money you get is enough to live and nothing more, so for us to buy ourselves internet we must sacrifice another part of our living expenses, such as nice food, or driving/petrol... sometimes to make the payments we even have no new food and live on whatever you can make with baking soda, flour and some powdered milk - so pancakes.
The point is, no ones life is easy, there are others who cannot work in this system, the government knows it, the people above the government know it, and they both know it's better to give a little to keep us silent(er) than we otherwise would be.
Wanna know the real reason i never ask for credit to the work I do here (when able), because your system allows me to have the time and resources to make it, the good thing is I enjoy(ed) doing the work and it benefited you all (in some way). I mean I like to be useful, I like to be challenged and I am proud of what we accomplished here at SITP.
As for piracy, Fact is, my means don't allow me to buy any software (ever) so for me to use it... they are not losing a sale because of it. Also because I don't ask for anything and I don't supply anything new to the internet warez scene I am not liable for what happens after I share the links, it's up to the people downloading to decide if they are bored with paying for stuff to be annoyed by registration processes (can take up to 1 hour on phone or hand typing long number/letter combinations) or if they are willing to use full software they don't own to play/learn and even share information/resources/products produced with it. . Usually they do this for free.
Warez don't hurt the software industry, as it is only home users who use warez and they rarely do so for profit, many who plan to use it daily or for profit will buy a legal copy, it's the right thing to do.
Also fact #2, I enjoy cracking/patching and working around Copy protection, so thats more of a game to me than any RPG. I use Warez because I enjoy doing so, no regrets, only respect to the people who created them.
I think in the future all "Commercial" applications will require monthly registrations/payments and online Phone home checking. Where as other applications will be Open sourced (better). Easy to guess what the trend will be. It is simpler to use/update and find help for Open Office than to use Microsoft Office 2010, plus it is faster at loading on most PC's.
Piracy isn't against developers at all, we just encourage to open source their products to make things on PC's progress.
